RECORDING HALLS

The cultural house, Hof, has two main halls used for recordings. The larger one is a 500 seat concert hall with a terrifically open and transparent sound which offers the capability of adjusting the length of the natural reverb tail, using drapes or reflective wooden shells. The audience area of the hall is 436m² in addition to the 266m² stage. The stage itself is 17.3m wide by 15.4m meters deep. Ceiling height is up to 14 meters to the ceiling above the acoustic baffles.

The smaller hall is a wood paneled room with a lovely warm sound, which also offers a variable reverb time via electronically controlled drapes on the walls and in the ceiling. The hall has a floorspace of 180m² and ceiling height of 10 meters. There are also various spaces in the building that can be recorded in, suitable for special occasions, when clients are after a specific sound (or even look, if doing television performances). The cabling infrastructure of the building yields many possibilities.

CONTROL ROOM

At the heart our recording system are world class preamps from NEVE and RME, all remotely controlled from the Control Room, with the audio streamed via our SSL AlphaLink MADI converter to an AVID ProTools HDX3 system. There is a real-time video feed from the recording stage to the control room and the film is fed down to the stage for the conductor. Monitoring in the control room as a 5.1 Focal system and down on the stage end a Hearback system makes sure everyone hears what they need, be it click track, guide tracks, the conductor or the people in the control room.
