BIG WEEKEND AHEAD IN HOF

As the weekend approaches the staff in Hof is getting ready to welcome 40 musicians to one of the biggest projects of the year. SinfoniaNord is recording a film score by Þórður Magnússon for the film “Sons of the Soil“ (Saga Borgarættarinnar) which was the first movie with live actors ever to be recorded in Iceland. The movie was premiered in Copenhagen in 1920 and therefore celebrated its 100th anniversary last year. The Icelandic composer Þórður Magnússon wrote a new film score for this special occation which will be recorded in Hof during the days of February 19th – 21st.

A busy recording month for Sinfonia Nord

The month of February started with a bang when the orchestra finished a full weekend of recordings at Hof. The projects included a score by Atli Örvarsson for the movie Wolka and a theme song for the cartoon series Treasure Trekkers sung by Ágústa Eva Erlendsdóttir. Sindri Már Sigfússon and Ragnar Fjölnisson also recorded original pieces with the symphony and Skúli Sverrisson recorded his composition, Kaldur Sólargeisli with Ólöf Arnalds. Next up on the horizon are big recordings for the movie Saga Borgarættarinnar on the 19th-21st of February, composed and arranged by Þórður Magnússon.
